Review Criteria for the Fourth Quarter of 2014

This quarter's criteria is essentially the same as last quarter, except for a slight modification in the way that I will be scoring the size portion of the assessment. Last quarter, I knew that I wanted to get away from a strict assessment of the overall size of a directory in order to acknowledge the newer directories that have been adding a lot of quality sites each year but were unable to compete with directories that have been around nearly two decades longer, but I wanted to do this without ignoring the value of the older, very large directories. Because I wasn't sure how this would work out in actual use, last quarter I used something that was part way in between. This quarter I have decided to evaluate directories with more than five thousand, but less than five hundred thousand links according to the average number of links that were added each year. The other areas of assessment remain the same.

I will also be reducing the importance of the size area from 25% to 20%, and adding that to the quality area of assessment, raising it from 20% to 25%. This may actually result in a significant shakeup of our top ten listings, but perhaps not; we'll see at the end of the quarter.
